Ka Lae is the Hawaiian name for South Point on the Big Island. The southernmost point in the United States, farther south even than Florida. It ishands-down my favorite place in the islands. The surf here is wild and the landscape raw and windswept. Because there is an underwater ridge of mountain tops stretching for miles, the waves converge and collide with each other nearly head-on. The result is spectacular. The colors in the water here are unmatched by anything else I have experienced. This is an extremely large painting in order to do justice to the enormity of the subject. $9750
