The manta rays of Hawaii are awe-inspiring, magnificent creatures. Huge, imposing, other-worldly…the first time you encounter one underwater is a heart-in-your-throat adrenaline rush like no other. And yet these animals are incredibly peaceful and beautifully graceful. A strange combination of stealth bomber and ballerina. In this painting I attempted to show the “mana” or essence of the mantas as a tribal pattern only visible in the shadows of the deep. SOLD
