#42 Nalu

I love to paint the energy of the ocean.  The sheer size and force of this wave, lit by the early morning sun was simply mesmerizing.  The immensity of nature's strength, both in the wave and in the fast approaching storm was humbling.  A study in contrasts between the almost blinding sparkles on the water and the dark brooding sky. The same water that is at once as light as spray, but also as heavy and powerful as a freight train.  "Nalu," the Hawaiian word for wave, seemed a simple yet powerful name for this piece.
